This book describes certain self help techniques I have been teaching for more than one decade and practicing for two. Psychotherapists in the community tell me that my lectures have helped students to recognize when they needed professional help. taught them how to get their money's worth from psychotherapy and speed up the process, and provided them with tools to continue the therapeutic work on their own after completing psychotherapy.
I have been happy to learn this, but in the main my lectures are designed for the so-called "normal" person in our culture: that is, those with mildly neurotic tendencies, people like myself who may never need professional help. Shadows of the past sometimes contaminate the present and narrow down the future for all of us. The purpose of my self therapy techniques is to confront the past put it in its place. Only then are we released to live the present more fully and grow into a richer future, able to use more of our true potential.
