The Independent Bookstores of Brooklyn calendar 2026 was created to represent the diversity and beauty of the thriving independent bookshop scene in Brooklyn—from Bed-Stuy to Bay Ridge, from general-interest to genre-specific stores, and from shops that have been around for decades to ones opening just this year. It was developed in 2025 by author and illustrator Cat Willett and Lofty Pigeon Books, and designed and drawn by Cat in collaboration with the depicted stores. While there wasn't space to represent every Brooklyn bookstore visually, you'll find a list of independent bookstores in the borough inside. We hope every month brings a new dose of joy and comfort in the form of an indie bookstore and inspires you to visit a new one!
